Steelhead Smack Down
The past two days I spent on two different rivers with the guys from Trail Creek Guide Service and needless to say it was a BLAST! Wednesday we hit one of my favorite rivers in search for monster browns but thanks to the heavy foot traffic the ones we saw in the shallows were extremely spooked. We worked our way down river and Justin ended up with a steelhead and a brown in three drifts. After that spot we continued down river where Todd bowed up with a very nice steelhead on his Raven Centerpin. At 1pm we decided to go for lunch but Aaron who was using fly rods decided to stay on the river which was a good decision on his part. He ended up tying into three browns and missed a buck brown pushing 15lbs! Thursday we hit a different river and it was a steelhead smack down. Out of the three spots we fished, our group ended up going 10 for 15 and only one was a spawned out brown. This week I will be spending as much of my time of the rivers seeing NOAA is calling for another 1-1.5'' of rain this weekend which will blow my rivers out again.
