Scouting new water

Yesterday i spent the morning scouting a few areas of the river that I haven't fished in quite a few years in search of steelhead. The first spot didn't pay off but the second spot gave up one chrome female steelhead and a smallmouth bass. Yes that's right a smallmouth bass that ate a spawn sac (couldn't believe it myself). After moving further up river I met up with two friends and we continued up river. After my buddy landed a small brown, I proceeded to stick two quality male steelhead. Overall I considered it a successful trip.
